Worm compost made from vegetable waste is a high fertility soil improver with a fine crumbly texture. It tends to be richer than garden compost, and the plant food it contains is more readily available. Worm compost is rich in humus and good water holding quality. These qualities and the fact that is usually available only in small qualities, means it is usually used more like a concentrated fertilizer than a bulky organic compost.

Worm liquid- Vegetable waste has very high moisture content. Water will tend to accumulate in plastic worm bins, and the worms may drown unless adequate drainage is provided. If there is a reservoir on the bottom of the worm compost bin, the liquid can be drained of through a standard barrel tap.

This liquid contains some plant foods, which can be recycled by pouring it into a compost pile. This liquid may also be used to feed container-grown plants. It should be diluted at least 10:1.

Worm compost can added to potting mix , that is especially suited for tomatoes, eggplant, and hanging basket plants. The mix is composed of 2 gal (9 liters) of worm compost, One bucket of horticultural sand ( 1 gal ( 4.5 liters) , 3 buckets of will rotted leaf mold or peat substitute, and 2 ½ oz.(75g) of ground limestone.

Ways to use Worm Composts:

1)  Apply as a top dressing to greedy feeders such as squash and other flowering vegetable crops during the growing season

2)  Apply as a top dressing for patio plants or house plants, about the top 1 in(2.5cm). Water as usual

3) Add to commercial potting mix to enrich and its water holding capacity.- for hanging plants for example.

4) Use as an ingredient in homemade potting soils and other growing media.

5) Worm compost is an excellent organic method to turn every day vegetable wastes into a high fertile soil improver as opposed to rotting in a land fill.
